Diep: bridals

On Sunday I met Diep (Yip) and her mother for her bridal portraits at Duke Gardens. I am so excited to be photographing Diep's wedding at the end of July. Diep is so sweet, when we met for our wedding consultation we became instant friends, it felt like meeting a girlfriend for coffee. We took pictures of both Diep's traditional American wedding dress, as well as, a few in her traditional Vietnamese outfit. Her mother is an unbelieveable seamstress and made the Vietnamese outfit herself! I was very impressed. Diep was gorgeous in both and looked beautiful in front of all of the amazing day lilies. Here are a few from the evening...

The Benedict Family

Last weekend I met the Benedict family in Williamsburg, VA for a portrait session in honor of David and Elaine's 50th wedding anniversary. The entire family was in town so they wanted some group photos, as well as, some of them just being together. It was a HOT but really fun morning. They endured the heat for me to take some shots outdoors and enjoyed the time they had together. They were such a sweet family! I am always blown away by couples who have been married that long, it is definitely something to aspire to!
the entire Benedict family is very musical and David Benedict built this beautiful harpsicord himself, I just love it...
Fifty years and still in love...

Paul Joseph

A few months ago I had the opportunity to take maternity photos of Anne Marie as a surprise Father's Day gift for her husband, Dan. We had a great time together so I have really been looking forward to taking newborn photos of their new son. And last Friday, I got to meet the little guy, Paul Joseph. He is so sweet and loves to cuddle up in his parents' arms. We got some really fun shots of Paul, he was such a trooper and even stayed awake for us! He endured us moving him around and messing with him for quite some time, but by the end he was all tired out. Here are a few pictures of this sweet new family...

Jenny: bridals

On Tuesday, I met Jenny and two of her friends at the Duke Gardens to take bridal portraits. Although the weather was calling for thunderstorms, they held off until we were finished. Can you believe it started raining right as we were walking to our cars? Jenny looked stunning in her simple and elegant wedding dress. She is very natural in front of the camera and her gorgeous blue eyes were unbelievable during the entire shoot. She let me be creative and I think it really paid off. I love these photos! Here are a few of my favorites (make sure to click on the photo to see it larger)...
butterflies are a part of Jenny's wedding theme, so we just had to get this shot...
