At Matt and Sallie's wedding a couple of weeks ago, I specifically focused on capturing a different perspective. After attempting to capture the natural, fun and candid moments of the day, I concentrated on the details. I wanted to draw out the small moments that really came together to make the wedding wonderful. Here are some of the results from that shoot.

Matt and Sallie
A couple weeks ago I helped Kristen Gardner shoot Sallie and Matt's wedding in Capon Springs, West Virginia. A quaint, family focused destination wedding, the weekend was full of games, laughter and a lot of love. Sallie and Matt were such a natural and fun couple, it was a joy to capture their wedding day. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.

The Downtown Mall
A couple weeks ago I challenged myself to return to the familiar Downtown Mall in Charlottesville and discover a new perspective. John and I have spent many evenings walking to the Downtown Mall for good food, gelato and people watching, but I wanted go to a familiar place and see it in a new light. I focused on architecture, color, repetition and texture. I ended up really liking what came from this exercise especially because my view point radically changed from seeing a classically beautiful setting into a place with abstract beauty.

Oggie
Oggie is a vivacious, sweet and independent two year old who I spent the morning shooting. To draw out his natural personality we played with his favorite things, his blanket, Playstation, and sandbox, all while listening to his favorite show Backyardigans. This allowed Oggie to feel comfortable drawing out his bright smile and sweet personality. By staying away from poses, I think I was able to capture the fun loving curiosity of this sweet two year old.
